Welcome to Honey Creek!

All About Us
Thank you for taking time to read up on our background.  We understand you want to feel comfortable about the folks who will be taking care of your precious family members.  Here's a bit about us...

In May of 2008, we had the great pleasure of purchasing Honey Creek Pet Boarding from Kim & Elana McCoy who started the business in 1989.  After about 12 years of living in the Pacific Northwest, we were excited to be back in the midwest where we were born and raised.  We have greatly enjoyed continuing the wonderful pet care provided by the McCoys all these years while offering some new services as well.

Jessie Opperman

Certified Pet Care Technician
Certified Professional Dog Trainer-KA
Certified Pet CPR & First Aid
Certificate in Canine Nutrition

Prior to Honey Creek, Jessie spent about 12 years in the veterinary field, first learning then managing all aspects of pet care, client counseling, and dog training & behavior.  From the ground up, she created the hospital's Jump Start & New Start Dog Programs to help dog owners with dog selection, new puppies, newly adopted dogs, and dogs needing a little refresher in the training department.  Individual consultations, a doggie handout, and obedience classes were all a part of this program.  Working along side one of the staff veterinarians, she coordinated and consulted on dog behavior issues such as separation anxiety and aggression.  For several years, Jessie represented the German Shepherds for one of the nation's oldest all-breed rescues working with rescued/fostered dogs, helping families rehome their dogs and educating the public on the breed and dog training/behavior.  Jessie brings all this experience to Honey Creek and offers similar programs for Jeff City area residents.

Jessie holds the above certifications and is also a professional member of the Association of Pet Dog Trainers and is an AKC Canine Good Citizen Evaluator.  She continues her education in dog training & behavior by doing training with her own dogs and attending seminars and conferences.

Eric Opperman

While in the Northwest, Eric spent most of his time working as a Certified Trainer for Invisible Fence where he helped dog owners by installing the fence system and training their dogs.  He helped hundreds of clients and their dogs to keep them safely at home - even the Opperman dogs have been on the system!

Eric is the all-around handyman at the kennel, and head of all things poop-scooping and yard work.  If Eric can't be easily found on the property - it's a sure bet that he's in spoiling the little dogs!!
